A Watch handed down from Generation to Generation

A father tells his son when he hands down a watch from generation to generation “ I give you a mausoleum of all hope and desire which will fit your individual needs no better than it did mine or my father’s or my father before me. I give it to you not as to remember time but so that it will serve as a reminder to forget about time if nothing but at least for a moment every now and then and remember not to spend all of your breath trying to conquer it. – Faulkner?
